Monday Morning - The Habits Recipe : Stirring Up Progress, One Step at a Time

The Habits Recipe : Stirring Up Progress, One Step at a Time

Ready to cook up some lasting habits that fuel your progress every day? During this session we'll discover the key ingredients for creating habits that actually stick. No more starting strong and fizzling out - it's about finding a sustainable, easy approach to habit-building. Think of it like crafting your personal ‘habit recipe’.

We’ll explore how to build habits that support your well-being and if things don’t go as planned understand how to 'tweak the recipe' for progress.

The secret sauce is curiosity and self-compassion. The goal is to experiment and find the routine that works for you.

As humans, we’re naturally wired to soothe ourselves—sometimes in ways that aren’t so helpful. We’ll focus on one simple habit you want to change, perhaps an element of mindfulness, exercise or healthy eating and take the first step towards regular practice that boosts your mood and energy. Think of it like a pianist mastering scales or a dancer perfecting a routine—learning to create positive habits is a skill you can develop with practise.

Join me and stir up some progress—one habit at a time!

Wednesday Afternoon - Zumbini Taster Session
Feb

Wednesday Afternoon - Zumbini Taster Session

Zumbini taster session – with Nicola Parkinson.

Zumbini is a movement to music class for 0–4-year-olds.

My Name is Nicola Parkinson, I am an Osteopath, Neurodevelopment Therapist, a Meditation Teacher and a Zumbini Instructor.

A Zumbini taster session. This is a music to movement class for 0-4 yr olds.

Caregiver participation is required in the form of singing and dancing with your little ones. I will provide instruments- rattles and bells and song sheets for you and your child to use in the session which is a 45 min class and includes singing, dancing, and instruments for the little ones and parents to use.

These classes are a lot of fun and you will see how each child learns differently, as some children will fully take part, and some children will just watch whilst other children will just listen. This is all according to how your child learns, but ultimately, they will begin to incorporate the skills that zumbini can teach them in a fun and friendly format.

Zumbini is run in the format of 6 weekly block sessions, and you will see how much fun you and your child has in these sessions, as children need to be able to reach certain milestone movements so by the time we go to school we are expected to be able to sit still, focus, concentrate and understand school and all the information given to us all day. This can be hard for a lot of children to do as they first begin school. The Zumbini programme incorporates fun with learning as these young brains are all in imagination and so they learn best when it is fun. Through song and movement this helps children develop balance, coordination, crossing the midline, hand eye coordination whilst helping to integrate primitive reflexes. This then helps the brain and body to be able to accommodate the fine motor skills needed for sitting, focus and concentration at school.

Many children today have not quite fully developed these skills, and it goes on to affect their quality and depth of education, and even some children can retain a primitive reflex which can develop into a learning difficulty e.g. dyslexia, so why not come and try a taster of some of the things included in a class.

Things to Bring/materials required:

Caregiver participation is required. All equipment you and your child need will be provided in the session.

Venue: Round Tower, Black Swan Arts, Frome

Date: Wednesday 12th February

Time: 1.30 -2.30 -

Wednesday Afternoon - How does the Teenage brain function with Nicola Parkinson

How does the Teenage brain function with Nicola Parkinson

How does a teenage brain function from 12 years upwards.

I have been given the opportunity to come on the mindfulness week to talk about children’s brain development and positive coping techniques for our children’s ever-increasing stress and anxiety. This world around us today has become very fast, busy and over stimulating and this has consequences on young minds. In my life I have been lucky enough to study a lot into this from both a personal and professional viewpoint and will talk to you today about anxiety symptoms and what to do about them that teaches our children a lifelong skill.

I work with parents and children to help everyone understand what has gone wrong in the brain when emotional dysregulation occurs, and the behaviour of the child is not so healthy for them and everyone around them. I am not a counsellor as many people mistake or a psychotherapist, but I am a CBT coach and positive mindset coach. If your child has mild- moderate emotional issues, then I can help and anything more severe I can direct you to a more developed practitioner.

Today in the session I am going to talk to you about the developing brain and the stages it goes through, the effect that technology has on the brain and how we begin to help ourselves and our youngsters emotionally regulate and calm down from stress and anxiety. These are easy techniques you can put into place with a full demonstration and a small kit to take home with you so you can begin to change bad habits into good habits. Come along to this workshop to discover the world of positive emotional coping techniques. This session is for both teenager and caregiver and equipment is included for you to take home to help your teen manage their anxiety, anger and any other uncomfortable emotions and why these techniques will benefit everyone. The pack includes a stretch band 2 balloons to get your stress dumping kit started. The aim of the session is to help the teenager and caregiver understand what needs to happen when their mind is full of negative adrenalin producing anxiety and stress. In a world full of stress and self-harming we need to understand now more than ever why our young adult brains are so overwhelmed and unable to cope and how to regulate emotions quickly to prevent a spiralling problem.

Please include 1 caregiver and 1 child as a single booking. If you are bringing 2 children you would book 2 tickets etc

Sunday Afternoon - Creative journaling

Creative Journaling Workshop with Amy Shiner and Caitlin Buckler

Creative Journaling is a powerful tool for self-discovery and inner healing, giving us permission to be our authentic selves. It allows us to express our thoughts and feelings, which in turn provides a daily self-care routine. For those that find it hard to put things into words, it can provide ways of expressing those words in different ways. By connecting to ourselves regularly, we are more able to understand what is going on for us on a day to day basis and can perhaps see things from a different perspective.

This workshop is perfect for beginners and experienced journalers alike. We are all artists, but for some, creativity may have been buried deep inside us. Whatever it is that you feel is stifling your creativity you have the power to reach it again, it is there inside you, just waiting for permission to be seen again. Creative Journaling can help you reach it, using a wide range of materials such as collage, paint, inks, photos, textiles, stitching, writing and drawing. Whatever inspires you.

Join Amy and Caitlin for some wonderful creative downtime whilst they share their passion of Creative Journaling and how it has helped them with their own wellbeing. Thursday Evening - Introduction to Nonviolent Communication

Thursday Evening - Introduction to Nonviolent Communication

Discover the hidden beauty behind judgments
An introductory taster to Nonviolent Communication (NVC) - with Gina Seilern

Whether we like it or not, we all learned how to judge. A deeply ingrained habit, which often acts as a barrier to connection with others (and with ourselves).

Perhaps for good reason then, many of us have layered our judging habits with the added thought “I should not judge”.

But what if we turn towards our judgments, and listen to what they have to say?

“Every judgment is a tragic expression of an unmet need” - Marshall Rosenberg

Join this interactive workshop to experience what happens when we listen deeply to our judgments, and uncover the hidden gems waiting to be revealed.

We will explore:

  • Common patterns of thinking behind moments of disconnection with other people (and with ourselves)

  • How to transform hurt & pain into compassion for self - and others

  • The power of Empathy, and the simple beauty of deep listening

  • How to be honest without being judgmental or demanding

  • And more…

Learning style

This will be an interactive workshop where you will be invited to work with examples from your life. My intention as a trainer is to offer learning through embodied experience, so be ready to dive in and bring yourself. There will be a mix of demonstrations in the main group, and practices in breakout groups.

Things to Bring/materials required:

Just bring yourself

 Date: Thursday 16th January

Time: 6-9pm

 Price: £35

Tickets 16

I first learned NVC in 2012 and was WOWed to find so many things that simultaneously touched my deepest nature and met me in my deepest longings. The healing magic of empathic listening, the liberation of learning that living in integrity with my values does not have to happen in a binary of right and wrong, and the electric quality of connection that can happen with the power of vulnerable honesty. It is now a most meaningful life’s work to undo the conditioning that has me forgetting, again and again, these most simple and powerful truths, and I love few things more than to share this gift with others. I teach workshops, hold 1-1 sessions, and offer tailored trainings for groups on request. I am a mother to three young kids.
