Wednesday Evening - Vedic Chanting with Elaine Marie Ewens

Vedic Chanting with Elaine Marie Ewens

Chanting the Vedas, India's ancient texts of wisdom, creates sounds in the beautiful resonating language of Sanskrit and can bring confidence, a clarity and calmness of mind, improved breathing and more.

Elaine would love to share this powerful tool of sound with you.

We will focus on Vedic chants linked to the spring: new growth, light and good health.

You will learn some simple and more complex chants and the sounds of the Sanskrit alphabet, plus a knowledge of the form and relevance of the Vedas today.

Supported in a circle of chanters, you will journey from learning how to pronounce the resonating words of Sanskrit at a mind level, to absorbing their effect at the level of the heart.

As well as aiding your breath, confidence and supporting you emotionally, Vedic chanting can lead you into a sense of quiet reflection and meditation.  Many people, who say they didn’t think they could meditate, comment on how still their mind is after chanting.

Chanting is a way to help memorise words by using a simple melody; in the case of Vedic chanting we will use 3 notes.

You will learn to follow Elaine's voice, plus how to read the chant from a written form.

There are no parts - we all chant together in a supportive circle and there is no requirement to be able to sing - all are welcome; beginners and those with experience.

Thing to bring/materials required: pencil, water to drink, something comfortable to sit on

Venue: The Round Tower, Black Swan Arts

Date of event: Wednesday 21st May

 Time: 6-9pm

 Cost: £27

 No of places: - 15
